I thougth that de signal is powered, to rise 16 miles, but it’s not real. And the comunication is good only in open staces, like one in front of the other. Anything that is in middle of the recievers, cause interference or bad comunications.

I personally like these radios because they give good range than other brand like cobra. The battery last full charge and it never brakes like cobra. I recemend buying them if you need radios.

If my wife can use it it’s easy! i bought ‘em for a motorcycle trip. They are perfect for use with the guy that have communication systems. I didn’t have a system I just wanted to be able to listen. With a good headset I’m clear and I hear my buddies clear. 5 stars!

I previously owned and used the 5 mi. version to communicate with my wife while I am going to and from the school bus stop for the kids. From the bus stop the 5 mi. unit was iffy. I purchased the 16 Mi. units thinking the little extra power and range would make for better receive at the bus stop. It was worse. We received no signal whatsoever, not a peep. Don’t buy this unit. Save your money and buy the 5 mi unit.

Just when I thought Motorola was infallible. These radios are terrible. Totally unreliable. They stop functioning long before the batteries die. You try to key up to talk, but instead you are interupted with a beep and you find that you aren’t transmitting. We learned the hard way on a trip to Baja. Also, they take the more expensive and harder to find AAA batteries instead of AA. There are many great choices by Motorola, but these aren’t one of them!
